Effect presets

Every built-in effect and instrument, and the Channel EQ, has a preset pop-up in its panel’s header. It shows the preset loaded or saved last, with “(edited)” once something changed (“Default” or “Manual” before any preset). Which preset that was is saved with the project, so it shows again when the project reopens, and undoing a preset load takes it back. The arrows step to the previous and next preset.

  • Factory presets come with Marbble (the Channel EQ has Flat, Low Cut 80 Hz, Vocal Presence, Vocal Air, Kick Punch, Snare Crack, Bass Clarity, Acoustic Guitar, Telephone and Master Polish). User presets are yours, and every project sees them: they are files in the presets/<effect>/ folder of the settings folder (~/.config/marbble/presets on Linux and macOS, %APPDATA%\marbble\presets on Windows), one <name>.json each.
  • Save Preset… names and saves the current settings (or updates the user preset that is loaded); Save Preset As… saves a copy under a new name. Saving over an existing name asks first. Rename Preset… and Delete Preset work on the user preset that is loaded.
  • Revert goes back to the loaded preset; Reset to “Default” (“Flat” for the EQ) resets everything.
  • Loading a preset is one undo step.
  • VST3 plug-ins use their own preset browsers; Marbble saves their state with the project and copies it with Copy Plug-in, but has no preset files for them.
