0.1.0-alpha.8

Released 2026-11-07. Compare on GitHub

  • Update check, with release channels. At launch Marbble asks GitHub whether a newer version is out on your update channel and, if so, shows “Marbble 0.1.0-alpha.9 is out” at the bottom right with View Release (the release page, in your browser) and Later. It never downloads or installs anything, never takes the keyboard, waits while you record, and stays quiet when offline. Settings › General has the Update Channel (Stable: final releases; Unstable: prereleases too, so never behind Stable; until you choose, it follows the version you run) and Check for updates at launch, on by default. Help › Check for Updates… checks at any time and says what it found.
  • Release channels: Stable and Unstable. Stable is releases with a plain version, Unstable every release including prereleases. The website’s Download section switches between them, release notes name their channel, and the stable and unstable branches follow each one’s newest release, so a Nix flake input can track a channel.
  • The website is at https://marbble.dev/. Help › User Guide, What’s New and Website and the About box open it there.
  • The Apple Silicon download opens. macOS called it damaged and offered only to move it to the Trash, because only its binary was signed, not the app around it. Both macOS builds are now ad-hoc signed and open with the first-launch step under Downloads. The plug-in, JIT and microphone entitlements apply now too.
